May 2014 Newsletter

Hello everyone, welcome to our rather belated May Newsletter.  Our ScrapBursts had such a wonderful response, the variety and quality of the work has been just outstanding.  The start of a new month also means a new Sketch Challenge, so that is also out.  I hope you’ll feel inspired enough to join in and have a go.

We have added the Mixed Media classes into the calendar, so ensure you check all our class dates and times.  These classes run a little longer as we have to allow for all the layers applied and their drying times.   Our new instructors are turning out some great samples for our upcoming classes, so be sure to call in and see what’s coming up.  Scrapville will be introducing new & exciting bits and pieces shortly as well, so stay tuned.

SCRAPVILLE PHONES
Please be advised that we are still having problems with our phone line.  You can still email the shop, or call/text Janet on her mobile.  I am advised that it may take up to 2 weeks to repair this issue, so I apologize for any inconvenience.  Please note, the eftpos & credit card facilities are still available.

MOTHER’S DAY
I would like to wish everyone out there a very happy and enjoyable Mother’s Day on May 11th.  If it’s something you celebrate, or are celebrated to, just feel the love and enjoy.
Purchase a Gift Voucher for Mum and receive a Mother’s Day layout as our gift.  You can leave the photo on it, or simply replace it with one of your own which best suits your special occasion.

SCRAPBURSTS
Well I must say that I was a little in awe of all the wonderful ScrapBursts and Card Bursts that were created for our April Challenges.   Everyone really got on board and set to creating up a storm!  All the Challenges had a small window of criteria to meet, and this was well and truly covered each time.   With so many entries, and such an excellent quality as well, it was difficult choosing just one winner from each challenge.  Thanks again to everyone who joined in, and to the Creative Team girls for putting up beautiful samples.  Here are our winners for the following challenges, congratulations to you all and thanks for playing.

ScrapBurst 1 – Numbers - Judy Laracy, special mention Helen Triglone
CardBurst 1 – Baby Boy/Girl - Judy Laracy, special mention Di Corbitt
ScrapBurst 2 – Heritage/Vintage - Roz Langridge special mention Di Corbitt
            CardBurst 2 – Vintage/Doilies - Zan Boyle, special mention
ScrapBurst 3 – Rural with Texture Zan Boyle, special mention Roz Langridge
ScrapBurst 4 – White, Light Blue & Lines - Helen Triglone,

Congratulations again to everyone, and all winners will be notified for collection of their prizes.  Well done also to all those who received a special mention as the task of selecting winners was not an easy one.

CROPVILLE
Friday 10nd May
Friday 23rd May
6.30pm to 11.30pm......ish
CropVille's are a great way to get out for the night and find some time for you doing a bit of creating. It's a casual night with a friendly mix of girls to keep you company, and it's often a very productive time, especially when there just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day!
We can take up to 10 if you have your own group that would like to come together, you’lI just need to book it separately. We'd love to see you there.

SKETCH CHALLENGES
The Sketches this month have a bit of a textured focus, of course how you interpret that is up to you.  You must use a mask on the layout, but with regards to the rest you could use papers, textures, dry embossing and so much more – just go with it!  As with all our Sketch Challenges, they are open to interpretation, just ensure they are recognizable in respect to the challenge rules. All entries are due in Pumpkin Time, May 31st.

Delight-Ville Products
You’ll need to check these out when you’re in next.  We have some new embellishment packs that are all theme based and jam packed with lots of bits and pieces to add to your layouts or cards.  Most of the work is already done for you with die-cut bits, embossed bits, vintage odds, metal charms & bits, inked bits, fabric and ribbon trims, stamped images and all sorts of other exciting stuff!  These are going to be released each month, and all are theme based.  We will only have a limited number of each available, so make sure you grab one when you see them.  We will have more news about what else is happening with these shortly when the work is all done!

As well as these we have gorgeous little miniature porcelain tea sets, which look divine on cards and layouts, as well as your decorative off the page projects.  Our cheeky vintage ladies will surely give you a giggle when you see them on our handmade cards.  Aimed at the fun-loving, easygoing individual, it’s easy to see someone suitable for each one.  Our dimensional tiles and key rings are handcrafted by a lovely inspirational lady whose talent is exceptional.  She keeps us in a supply of her beautiful carded lace trims and doilies, of which we adore.  Should you prefer something a little more floral and dimensional, then the sprigs and lace posies are the go.

STOCK, ORDERS AND STUFF
I love to source products that represent a handmade element, or something that you can put your hand to and be just as creative.  Our classes are clearly indicative of the time and effort we put into supporting you, our customers, with as much new and inspiring creative direction as we can.  I feel it’s important to keep that balance and support those that want to walk into a scrapbooking shop, therefore supporting and keeping me going.  As a sole business owner in today’s economic circumstances times are clearly changing, and we all need all the face to face support we can get.
Thank you.

CLEARANCE SALE
Don't forget to have a wander over to the Clearance & Sale section to check out all the Items there, it’s updated regularly and we need the room for more goodies!  There are silver number and alpha metal charms, chipboard, stickers, wooden alpha letters and lunchbox tins all reduced.  We also have a box of random doublesided patterned papers at half price.  Worth a look….

A FITTING SALE
Well what else could you call it?  Scrapville cannot possibly put anymore shop fittings into this space, so we are clearing out our shed.  We have a range of display units, wall racking, slat wall lengths for home or the blokey man in the garage (like mine!), and much, much, more, all AS IS.  If you are interested in any of this you can call in and check out the photos of each item available.  They are PICK UP only, some from Wodonga and some from Myrtleford (ask when choosing).
