January 2013 Newsletter

Hello Everyone, and welcome to the first Scrapville Newsletter for 2013.  I hope you were able to spend time winding down after all the Christmas and New Year festivities.  I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.  May it also be the year that gives those who have faced challenges a positive insight and support on the road ahead.

Scrapville is now commencing it's 4th year of trading at Wodonga.  It has no doubt been a memorable time, with many challenges along the way.  From humble beginnings the shopfront was opened, the Blog set up, a Creative Team formed, classes and an annual Retreat established. Month. I have some new and exciting plans for 2013, and I hope you will be a part of our continued growth of creativity and crafting passions. Helping you find the inspiration you desire to create those special projects is also very rewarding for us at Scrapville, so I thank you for your support, and hope to see you again soon.

CREATIVE TEAM

2013
I would also like to extend a big thank you to all those who applied for a position on the 2013 Scrapville Creative Team, but were unsuccessful this time around. It was wonderful to receive such interest, and such beautiful samples to go with it!
Our very exciting news for 2013 is our Creative Team Announcement for the January to June period. As we commence the 4th year of trading in Wodonga, we look forward to sharing the inspiration and creativity of the newest members of the Creative Team

Please support me in welcoming the following successful applicants to the Scrapville Creative Team for 2013. I am excited and pleased to welcome the following Team Members:
Heather Bensley
Those of you that know Heather can look forward to seeing her from time to time manning the front counter at Scrapville, enjoying a CropVille or running a class. Her work is a pleasure to share as she continues to unmask her ever growing talent. Welcome Heather!
Debi Clark
Debi is a NSW girl, and works in both 12x12 and A4. She applies her style across the board, taking on the newest styles and techniques whilst remaining loyal to a shabby and eclectic flair. She has a wonderful way with cards, and I am looking forward to sharing these with you.
Welcome Debi!

Sally Clark (continuing)
Once again we welcome Sally on-board as she continues to surprise and amaze us with her Blind CropVille creations. Leaving much to the imagination, her skill in putting these classes together with an array of interesting techniques and styles is sure to keep the girls busy yet again. We look forward to sharing her awesome cards and layouts as well. Welcome Sally!
Anita Bownds (continuing)
We are delighted that Anita is also remaining on the Team. She will be taking on some behind the scene's tasks, as well as designing our Monthly Sketch Challenges. For those that got to know Anita in 2012, you will not be disappointed with her gorgeous creations of whimsy, fussy cutting and layering on her layouts and cards. Welcome Anita!
Individually I will be putting a little update on the Blog to help you get to know the girls. I am looking forward to sharing all the wonderful creations that our Team will be submitting to inspire and enlighten you. Please join me in welcoming the New Team in for 2013, and we all hope to see you inspired by their creations.

RE-VAMP
Along with our New Team we have a New Shop! A total re-vamp has given Scrapville a new look, with lots more room for lots more stock! There is plenty of room in the workshop for all our new classes, and there's no lack of excitement there! Please feel free to call in and check out the changes, and let us know what you think!

NEW HOURS
Along with the re-vamp we have New Hours.  We are also now open on Mondays, and our weekly times are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm, and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.

BLOG
Who doesn’t like a little Blog Candy? Well visually for sure, so we have given the Blog a re-vamp as well. We hope you find it pleasing to visit, and easy to get around. The Tabs at the top should make getting around a little easier too.

Starting with the Jan/Feb Sketches we will be implementing a Linky to the Blog so that you can add all your own images to the challenges. This will make it easier for you to upload once your challenge is done. There will be a brief description of what to do when linking, and this will be entered with each new challenge post.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Anita for her help on the Blog, it’s been wonderful having her expertise!

MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGES
The December/January Sketch Challenge is on the downhill run now, and your challenge entries expire at Pumpkin Time Monday, January 14th. Be quick, the pumpkin is ticking…..

BLIND CROPVILLE
The January BCV will only run if numbers permit. All BCV’s offer techniques, and require a basic scrapbooking knowledge. This is not a usual instructional class where you are given an exact placement instruction or measurement, it is more a fun interpretation class.  This means you should be able to adapt a bit of whimsy to each step without stressing over the where and why.  Our aim is to make this an enjoyable class for everyone, so if you're looking for a change, why not come along?

CHALLENGE WINNERS
Please note that to be eligible for the challenges we must have a minimum or four (4) entries in each.  Each challenge has criteria to meet, whether it is using the pack products, sticking to the design of the sketch, or using products that can be purchased and supported by Scrapville.
All challenges are voted for by the Creative Team. Anyone who wins a monthly challenge cannot win the following month’s challenge (to be fair to other entries) but are encouraged to share their challenge creations.

The Monthly Pack winners will WIN the following months Monthly Pack, unless otherwise specified at the time of the release. Where there is not a Monthly Pack for that month, (such as when we have the ScrapBursts) you have the option to default to the next one, or take a Prize Pack. The Sketch Challenge Winners will win a Prize Pack.

The Announcements for the Challenge Winners will be made within 5 days of the end of the Challenge, providing numbers qualified.

WEEKLY & MONTHLY CARD CLASSES
Our Weekly Seniors Card Classes have proved very popular, with the girls making some wonderful cards. Running on Wednesday mornings at 10am, you’ll join Heidi and the girls for a morning out creating beautiful cards. Please ensure you make your booking. A limited number of the Card Kits will be available for purchase after the class has run.

Our Monthly Evening Card Classes will commence on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Again you will need to book, and all classes include the kits. Anyone attending classes at Scrapville will be eligible for Class Discounts. These discounts will apply to all the products that are specifically required for use in the Class.

SPELLBINDERS CARD CLASS
On Saturday, February 23rd we will be running a morning and afternoon Spellbinders Card Class, instructed by Linda Lucas from the Spellbinders SpellBlogger Team.  These classes are an absolute must do, with first hand experience using Spellbinders fantastic products, partner products and demo afterward. As numbers will be limited for this class, bookings will only be accepted upon full payment, on a strictly first in basis.

Linda has recently returned from Spellbinders in the USA, sampling and playing with the latest Spellbinder products. Linda is a member of several design teams and has been published multiple times online, in magazines, and in books. Linda describes her style as eclectic, vintage with a touch of shabby. She loves to embellish with lace, pearls, ribbon and of course, Spellbinders dies!
We're looking forward to sharing Linda's expertise with you, so don't miss this wonderful experience.

CROPVILLE
The next CropVille will be advised on the sidebar of the Newsletter & Classes Blog. Just click on the TAB on the Scrapville Blog to go to the page. CropVille runs from 7pm to 11.30pm. Please ensure you book in advance so that numbers are confirmed prior. You are welcome to scrap or make cards, or work on off the page projects. Bring a friend if you like, and have a creative night out.
