Scrapville is now commencing it's 4th year of trading at Wodonga.  It has no doubt been a memorable time, with many challenges along the way.  From humble beginnings the shopfront was opened, the Blog set up, a Creative Team formed, classes and an annual Retreat established. Month. I have some new and exciting plans for 2013, and I hope you will be a part of our continued growth of creativity and crafting passions. Helping you find the inspiration you desire to create those special projects is also very rewarding for us at Scrapville, so I thank you for your support, and hope to see you again soon.

CREATIVE TEAM
2012
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2012 Creative Team for their support, input and creativity throughout 2012.  I am extremely grateful and thankful for all the work they put in each month, and for sharing all their beautiful inspiration with you all.  They are just the nicest girls who have done an amazing job creating, which definitely showed in their work.  I admire their commitment and dedication, and will miss them on the Team.  To the two girls who will be leaving the Team, Claire and Deb, a HUGE THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful creations with us all, I for one certainly couldn't wait to see what you did each month.  Chin Chin girls!!

I would also like to extend a big thank you to all those who applied for a position on the 2013 Scrapville Creative Team, but were unsuccessful this time around. It was wonderful to receive such interest, and such beautiful samples to go with it!

Welcome Debi!

Sally Clark (continuing)
Once again we welcome Sally on-board as she continues to surprise and amaze us with her Blind CropVille creations. Leaving much to the imagination, her skill in putting these classes together with an array of interesting techniques and styles is sure to keep the girls busy yet again. We look forward to sharing her awesome cards and layouts as well. Welcome Sally!

We are delighted that Anita is also remaining on the Team. She will be taking on some behind the scene's tasks, as well as designing our Monthly Sketch Challenges. Please join me in welcoming the New Team in for 2013, and we all hope to see you inspired by their creations.

RE-VAMP
Along with our New Team we have a New Shop! A total re-vamp has given Scrapville a new look, with lots more room for lots more stock! There is plenty of room in the workshop for all our new classes, and there's no lack of excitement there! Please feel free to call in and check out the changes, and let us know what you think!

NEW HOURS
Along with the re-vamp we have New Hours.  We are also now open on Mondays, and our weekly times are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm, and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.

BLOG
Who doesn’t like a little Blog Candy? Well visually for sure, so we have given the Blog a re-vamp as well. We hope you find it pleasing to visit, and easy to get around. The Tabs at the top should make getting around a little easier too.

Starting with the Jan/Feb Sketches we will be implementing a Linky to the Blog so that you can add all your own images to the challenges. This will make it easier for you to upload once your challenge is done. There will be a brief description of what to do when linking, and this will be entered with each new challenge post.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Anita for her help on the Blog, it’s been wonderful having her expertise!

MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGES
The December/January Sketch Challenge is on the downhill run now, and your challenge entries expire at Pumpkin Time Monday, January 14th. Be quick, the pumpkin is ticking…..

BLIND CROPVILLE
The January BCV will only run if numbers permit. All BCV’s offer techniques, and require a basic scrapbooking knowledge. This is not a usual instructional class where you are given an exact placement instruction or measurement, it is more a fun interpretation class.  This means you should be able to adapt a bit of whimsy to each step without stressing over the where and why.  Our aim is to make this an enjoyable class for everyone, so if you're looking for a change, why not come along?

CHALLENGE WINNERS
Please note that to be eligible for the challenges we must have a minimum or four (4) entries in each.  Each challenge has criteria to meet, whether it is using the pack products, sticking to the design of the sketch, or using products that can be purchased and supported by Scrapville.
All challenges are voted for by the Creative Team. Anyone who wins a monthly challenge cannot win the following month’s challenge (to be fair to other entries) but are encouraged to share their challenge creations.

The Monthly Pack winners will WIN the following months Monthly Pack, unless otherwise specified at the time of the release. Where there is not a Monthly Pack for that month, (such as when we have the ScrapBursts) you have the option to default to the next one, or take a Prize Pack. The Sketch Challenge Winners will win a Prize Pack.

The Announcements for the Challenge Winners will be made within 5 days of the end of the Challenge, providing numbers qualified.

WEEKLY & MONTHLY CARD CLASSES
Our Weekly Seniors Card Classes have proved very popular, with the girls making some wonderful cards. Running on Wednesday mornings at 10am, you’ll join Heidi and the girls for a morning out creating beautiful cards. Please ensure you make your booking. A limited number of the Card Kits will be available for purchase after the class has run.

Our Monthly Evening Card Classes will commence on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Again you will need to book, and all classes include the kits. Anyone attending classes at Scrapville will be eligible for Class Discounts. These discounts will apply to all the products that are specifically required for use in the Class.

SPELLBINDERS CARD CLASS
On Saturday, February 23rd we will be running a morning and afternoon Spellbinders Card Class, instructed by Linda Lucas from the Spellbinders SpellBlogger Team.  These classes are an absolute must do, with first hand experience using Spellbinders fantastic products, partner products and demo afterward. As numbers will be limited for this class, bookings will only be accepted upon full payment, on a strictly first in basis.

Linda has recently returned from Spellbinders in the USA, sampling and playing with the latest Spellbinder products. Linda is a member of several design teams and has been published multiple times online, in magazines, and in books. Linda describes her style as eclectic, vintage with a touch of shabby. She loves to embellish with lace, pearls, ribbon and of course, Spellbinders dies!
We're looking forward to sharing Linda's expertise with you, so don't miss this wonderful experience.

CROPVILLE
The next CropVille will be advised on the sidebar of the Newsletter & Classes Blog. Just click on the TAB on the Scrapville Blog to go to the page. CropVille runs from 7pm to 11.30pm. I would like to thank Jennie Seal for joining the Creative Team as a Guest for August, and also September, whilst Claire has taken a sabattical.  We have been able to share with you all Jennie's wonderful creations, using many of Scrapville's kits and products.  It's nice to have your local scrappers represented on the Creative Team, in-store and on the Blog.  Thank you sharing your creations with us Jennie, and we look forward to seeing much more of your work.

SCRAPBURTS
I just love the ScrapBursts, we get to do a bunch of exciting challenges over the whole month and see some amazing work.  Part of these SBs is to challenge you all by allowing you to try new things, and maybe change your focus to a whole new area, such as scrapping yourself.  It might not seem much to some, but it's an area a lot of people behind the camera find difficult.  We have had the pleasure to experience some wonderful work, and the Creative Team have been put to task in choosing their Winning entries.  I hope you will join me later this week to congratule the talented scrappers who will be voted Winners in each ScrapBurst.
These were the Challenges:
ScrapBurst #1 – It’s All About “Me”
ScrapBurst #2 – Hex It Up!
ScrapBurst #3 – Stamp It Distressed.
Scrapburst #4 - Word Play - Heart.

MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGES

Please note that to be eligible for the challenges we must have a minimum or four (4) entries in each. Each challenge has criteria to meet, whether it is using the pack products, sticking to the design of the sketch, and using products that can be purchased and supported by Scrapville.

All challenges are voted for by the Creative Team, outlining why they have chosen each winning entry. RETREATVILLE 2012
I would like to send a big thank you to the attendees at this years RetreatVille.  We had a wonderful group of girls, and the ambience of the weekend was wonderful.  The amount of layouts and cards produced over the weekend was a credit to the girls for their inspiration and creativity.

A big thank you to Sally for her registration and running of Girls Night In.  Always an area that manages to touch so many of us in so many different ways, this event would be dedicated to the memory of Laity.  Although she lost her battle, Laity managed to touch the lives of so many in such a special way.  Each and every attendee received a little piece of Laity's memory in that beautiful little butterfly we all so loved her teaching us to make the year before at RetreatVille.

The room was abundant in foo-foo pink and white, glorious nibbles and cakes, and lots of fun and games.  A wonderful effort from all attired in the required costuming, and a wonderful night overall.  We hope the final figures contribute to the greater good of better health.

Thank you also to the girls who offered their assistance in helping out during the weekend.

September Newsletter

Hello Everyone, welcome to the September Newsletter. There's plenty happening this month with our new ScrapBursts up and running, and Retreat just around the corner. We hope you’ll find plenty to do during the first month of spring, and pick up a bargain or two at Scrapville whilst you’re at it!

SEPTEMBER MONTHLY PACK

This month we have opted to drop the Monthly Pack to run the ScrapBursts. This allows us time to focus on Retreat, and gives you plenty to keep you busy over September.

SCRAPBURST KITS

Once again we’ll be putting together some SB KITs for you to use, but these are NOT compulsory. The Kits will include value added products to let you complete your challenge without the hassle of searching for products. If you purchase a SB KIT you can only use WHAT IS IN THE KIT, plus any of the allowed Techniques. You can, however, use your own alphas and cardstock if you choose.

A winning ScrapBurst entry will WIN a SCRAPBURST PRIZE PACK! A winning entry that used a SB KIT, will ALSO WIN a BONUS PRIZE. Once again there will only be a limited number of Kits available in each ScrapBurst Challenge. T&C apply.

ScrapBurst #1 – It’s All About “Me”

This layout is going to be about YOU, and includes a list of 5 things about yourself. There must be a photo of YOU. Your list can be done any way you choose, as long as there are 5 Items about You.

ScrapBurst #2 – Hex It Up!

Your layout must include a group of at least 6 Hexagonal Shapes.  They can be grouped together, or spread around separately, but there MUST be at least SIX.
The HEX can be in the paper, a stamp, screen, chip shape, fussy-cut from patterned paper - but you MUST have them clearly visible on the layout.

ScrapBurst #3 – Stamp It Distressed…

You must literally Distress this layout using Distress Inks, Distressing Tools and Distressing Techniques. As well as that, you MUST have at least ONE STAMPED IMAGE in the Background (using Distress Ink, and noting the colour used when entered).

Scrapburst #4 - Word Play - Heart

You must include this WORD in the TITLE, or a derivative of this word (heart chip shape…).
Your layout must also reflect the theme of the Title.

EZY PZY KITS

Nice and Ezy, these kits have been put together to take the work out of putting your papers together with all their coordinating bits and pieces. They are a great starter kit, which the Creative Team girls have done some wonderful creations with. Pop in and have a look through each one to choose the right one for you. Such great value at just $10 too!

MONTHLY SKETCH CHALLENGES

The August/September Sketch Challenge is up and running, and your challenge entries expire Pumpkin Time September 14th. Have a look at the great Sketch designs Anita has put up for the Layout and Card challenges and give it a go.

CREATIVE TEAM GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT

I would like to thank Jennie Seal for joining the Creative Team as a Guest for August, whilst Claire has taken a family holiday overseas and some time off. We have seen some wonderful creations, and I thank you once again for being a part of the Team.

During September I will be announcing a different Scrapper/Cardmaker each week, and showcasing some of their work. This will give you all an opportunity to say hello to some of the local girls who are in and out of Scrapville busying themselves with Challenges and Classes. Stay tuned though, it’s a surprise!............

BLIND CROPVILLE

The September BCV won’t be running due to Retreat, but the good news is the Retreat Girls are in for a good one. Sally will be running that one, so be excited girls! The next Blind Cropville in the shop will be in October.

CHALLENGE WINNERS

Please note that to be eligible for the challenges we must have a minimum or four (4) entries in each. Each challenge has criteria to meet, whether it is using the pack products, sticking to the design of the sketch, and using products that can be purchased and supported by Scrapville.

All challenges are voted for by the Creative Team, outlining why they have chosen each winning entry. The Manager will make the deciding vote if there is a tie between the top two.

Anyone who wins a monthly challenge cannot win the following month’s challenge (to be fair to other entries) but are encouraged to enter their challenge creations.

The Monthly Pack winners (with the exception of September) will WIN the following months Monthly Pack. Where there is not a Monthly Pack for that month, you have the option to default to the next one, or take a Prize Pack. The Sketch Challenge Winners will win a Prize Pack.

The Announcements for the Little Yellow Bicycle “Splash” August Monthly Pack winner will be announced on Monday, 3rd September.

CROPVILLE

The next CropVille, numbers permitting, is on Saturday 9th September 7pm to 11.30pm. Please ensure you book in advance. You are welcome to scrap or make cards, or work on off the page projects. Bring a friend if you like, and have a creative night out.

RETREATVILLE 2012
Do you like the idea of getting away with a nice group of girls to scrap/papercraft?
No cooking, driving kids around, ironing.........
We still have places available if you would like to attend this event, so why not come along and join us? It's relaxing, lots of fun, there are prizes, competitions if you want to join in, and wonderful company. The shop comes along to help out with your supplies. The dates for Retreat are Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd September, with the option to arrive on Thursday or Friday.

CLASSES
You can check out the Class List and in-store samples for September layout classes. You will need to book as classes can only run if we meet minimum number requirements.

There will be a LAYOUT CLASS on Friday, 8th September at 7pm. Contact Janet for a requirements list and to pay your deposit.
