February 2013 Newsletter

Hello Everyone, and welcome to the February Newsletter. I have made some new and exciting changes at Scrapville for 2013, and I hope you will get the chance to call in and see the new look shop. With new shelving, displays and a dab of paint, we are refreshed and raring to go. Now, lets see what else is happening!

This month we are running with a pack from Kaisercraft’s latest range, 75 cents. 75 cents is a gorgeous collection that has a vintage theme. This range is extremely versatile as it has three central colours; dusty turquoise, black and soft brown, able to compliment a variety of different photos. The quirky elements found throughout the collection include butterflies, vintage labels, florals and antique frames. These images are found throughout the embellishments creating harmony within this collection.

The Monthly Pack Challenge is for both a Layout and a Card, but you may enter either or both.
The Challenges must be received by Pumpkin Time 28th February. You can upload your challenges to the Linky with a direct link to your Challenge Post on your Blog. If you do not have a Blog, then drop or email your entry into Scrapville. You may only enter 1 challenge for either the Layout or the Card, although a double layout entry will be accepted as 1, and a set of 3 cards will also be accepted as 1, providing they are of the same theme. There needs to be at least 4 entries in each Challenge for prizes to be awarded. The winners will receive a Prize Pack.

I hope you enjoy creating with this wonderful pack, and we look forward to sharing our samples shortly.

The January/February Sketch Challenge is at the halfway mark now, and your challenge entries expire at Pumpkin Time Thursday, February 14th. Be quick, the pumpkin is ticking, and don’t forget to drop your layouts in if you don’t have a Blog or are having trouble using the Linky…..

Starting with the Jan/Feb Sketches we have added a Linky to the Blog so that you can add all your own images to the challenges, which in turn will take us to your Blog. Please make sure you link the Challenge Page on your Blog when uploading. Anyone having difficulties uploading to the Linky can send us an email and we’ll get back to you with help.

On Saturday, February 23rd we will be running a morning and afternoon Spellbinders Card Class, instructed by Linda Lucas from the Spellbinders SpellBlogger Team, and as a DT Member of the Australian Distributors of Spellbinders. These classes are an absolute must do, with firsthand experience using Spellbinders fantastic products, partner products and demo afterward.

Linda has recently returned from the USA where Spellbinders had her sampling and playing with the latest Spellbinder products. Linda is a member of several design teams and has been published multiple times online, in magazines, and in books. Linda describes her style as eclectic, vintage with a touch of shabby. She loves to embellish with lace, pearls, ribbon and of course, Spellbinders dies!

As numbers will be limited for this class, bookings will only be accepted upon full payment, on a strictly first in basis. Currently they are filling fast, and due to limited numbers there are no exceptions.  We're looking forward to sharing Linda's expertise with you, so don't miss this wonderful experience.

Due to the popularity of our Utee Serendipity class, we will be re-running this on Tuesday, 12th February at 7pm. If you would like to see the sample please call into the store. This class will take you into a new area of embossing techniques, which is quite unique. You will be given the requirements list upon booking, and the class includes the Kit.

The February BCV has been scheduled for Saturday, 16th February, numbers permitting. All BCV’s offer techniques, and require a basic scrapbooking knowledge. This is not a usual instructional class where you are given an exact placement instruction or measurement; it is more an interpretation where you will make these decisions. You will be encouraged to add a bit of whimsy to the unknown and challenge yourself. At the completion of the BCV the reveal will show you a sample of how the initial layout can be interpreted. Bookings essential.

  • Please note that to be eligible for the Scrapville Challenges there must be a minimum or four (4) challenges entered.
  • Each challenge has criteria to meet, whether it is using the pack products, sticking to the design of the sketch, or using products that can be purchased and supported by Scrapville.
  •  All challenges are voted for by the Creative Team.
  • Anyone who wins a monthly challenge cannot win the following month’s challenge (to be fair to other entries) but are encouraged to share their challenge creations.
  • The Monthly Pack winners will WIN the following months Monthly Pack, unless otherwise specified at the time of the release. Where there is not a Monthly Pack for that month, (such as when we have the ScrapBursts) you have the option to default to the next one, or take a Prize Pack. The Sketch Challenge Winners will win a Prize Pack.
  • The Announcements for the Challenge Winners will be made within 5 days of the end of the Challenge, providing numbers qualified.

Our Weekly Seniors Card Classes have proved very popular, with the girls making some wonderful cards. Running on Wednesday mornings at 10am, you’ll join Heidi and the girls for a morning out creating beautiful cards. Please ensure you make your booking. A limited number of the Card Kits will be available for purchase after the class has run.

Our Monthly Evening Card Classes will commence on the 3rd Thursday of each month, with the first one starting Thursday, 21st February 2013. Again you will need to book, and all classes include the kits. Anyone attending classes at Scrapville will be eligible for Class Discounts. These discounts will apply to all the products that are specifically required for use in the Class.

Just click on the TAB on the Scrapville Blog to go to the page. CropVille runs from 7pm to 11.30ish. Please ensure you book in advance so that numbers are confirmed prior.
